The discs rose up and they began flying toward the school. "I did it because it needed to be done. You'll need more than one outfit for life at the school." After about 30 minutes, the beautiful campus came into view. Nikolai started their descent.

"I meant about saving me from those guys." Riley stated bluntly. "And then why bring me here." he said, in awe at the school's grounds. "Why not just leave me for dead? Isn't it easier that way? If not then why have so many people done it in the past?" His questions were very straight forward but he didn't regret it.

"Well, judging from how the ringleader looked, you have some pretty remarkable powers. I just doubt you can control them. My sister and I have complete control, if we didn't, we could throw the world's magnetic balance out of whack." Nikolai replied. "And I chose to bring you here because I know it's the right thing to do. You deserve a chance to completely control your abilities. You'll always have a home... and a friend... in these walls." As he sad the last part, he looked straight into Riley's eyes.

For the first time in a long time, Riley gave a real, genuine, and large smile. Although he hadn't known it, that was one thing Riley'd been longing to hear his whole life. Once they'd actually touched ground and before Riley knew what he was doing, he'd embraced Nikolai in a hug. It was the kind of one a younger brother would give his older brother, and nothing but.

Nikolai hugged him back. Once the embrace ended, he said. "I bet you're hungry. We've got all kinds of food and other things in the kitchen. We also have plenty of empty rooms." Once again, the discs reformed into the dense, metal balls and floated into is hand and resumed their position orbiting each other. He felt good knowing that he had probably saved this kid's life. It was the entire point of keeping The School open. This one moment made every expenditure of the school somewhat irrellivant.

Riley's stomach growled, obviously feeling neglected as Riley nodded his head vigorously. It was also very apparent by how loosely his old clothes hung off his body that Riley hadn't recieved enough food or proper nutrition in a few years. He looked up to Nikolai eagerly, his strange eyes begging him to lead the way inside and to the kitchen.

Nikolai quietly led Riley to the kitchen. He fired up the stove and made a grilled cheese sandwich with fried ham. He made two for Riley, figuring he'd eat them both, and one for himself. He put the dishes in the sink by use of his powers and the metal scrubber immediately began to wash the pan. He poured two glasses of milk and set them down on the table. "Okay... so... what did you do to the ringleader of that gang?" he asked him after a bite of his sandwich.

"Hey!" Riley quickly exclaimed as Nikolai took a bit of the grilled cheese and ham sandwhich. He jumped up and practically snatched the bitten piece out of his hands. Then, sitting back down, Riley clasped his own hands together and softly whispered a prayer. Once done, he made the sign of the cross and then finally took the piece of grilled cheese and placed it back in Nikolai's mouth. Riley took a few moments to actually answer after that because he'd wanted to savour a few pieces of the outstanding food first. "Thank you." he started. "...But honestly... I was kind of hoping that you could be the one to tell me that." Riley'd never actually figured out the extent of his powers because they seemed to work only when they tended to want to. "All I know is that I think I have this weird... power, or something... but it strangles people, makes it so they can't breath." He knew that that must've been what he'd done to his parents a couple of years ago... when they died. Riley changed the subject quickly, not wanting to tread on that thin ice. "But once or twice I've woken up in the night and have been floating a little." he said.

Nikolai took a few minutes to process what Riley had told him. "Well... it sounds like you have control over the air... the element Oxygen, more specifically." Nikolai explained it further. "You can subconciously control the oxygen molecules in the air to keep them away from people who are around you." Nikolai conciously put an invisible magnetic field around him so the oxygen in his vicinity would stay there.
"With a little bit of help, you'll be able to control when you use your powers... we might even be able to teach you how to manipulate the air molecules as to allow you to fly."

"Cool..." Riley replied absent-mindedly. Without being able to stop himself, his mind had shot back in time about two years to when his powers first showed up. It was obvious to Nikolai that Riley's attention had momentarily gone elsewhere by the way he answered and how he just picked at his food. "Do you think you could teach me to fly high enough to visit Heaven?" he asked softly with such an innocent air.

That question stopped Nikolai in his tracks. He had no idea how to answer it. He stammered for a few seconds before saying, "I... I guess there's no harm in trying..."
The dishes that were washing themselves set themselves in the other sing compartment. Nikolai's mind went back to his youth when he'd go to Church each sunday and recite Bible verses. But Nikolai had turned his back on the church when they turned their back on him.
After a few moments of awkward silence, Nikolai said, "I want you to know that I know what it's like to be an outcast..."

It was Riley's turn to be stopped in his tracks. "In the past few years I've been called an outcast or a freak so many times that if you gave me a penny every time, I'd be Donald Trump, but I never endorsed the title." Riley declared plainly. "If you have then that's your problem." Riley finished the last of his grilled cheeses. He didn't mean to sound so rude and when he realized he had, "Sorry..."

Nikolai slightly winced. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean...." but he didn't know how to word it. "It's just that I'm constantly judged based on the fact that I like guys..." he expected Riley to immediately shun him, based on the fact he was a Christian. Nikolai hung his head in shame.
(Hey... I'm leaving for CT tomorrow and I wanted to post real quick.... I'll reply when I get the chance!!)

((Aww, okay, well, I need to talk to yah about something next time you're on. Have fun in CT!!!))
Riley gave Nikolai a deep look of compassion. "Then I'm sorry that people are constantly that shallow and heartless." Riley wasn't about to treat Nikolai any differently, especially not because he's a Christian. He was taught to accept people for who they were and to like them for their differences, not to hate them in spite of them. Not to mention the fact that Nikolai had done Riley that favour so far. Riley may just be a child, but he has some pretty big values.

Nikolai got an almost childish look on his face. He didn't know what to say as tears welled up in his eyes. He mouthed the words "thank you" to Riley and got up to wash his plate.
